Things To Consider On Sexual Health Clinics

If you are sexually active, then you will need to have regular testing done to ensure that you remain free and clear of all sexually transmitted diseases. Most all major cities and even some of the smaller cities across the U.S. offer sexual health clinics that will provide free or low cost STD testing. You may want to consider this as an option if you want to be sure that you are clean. They will be able to do testing for HIV and many of the other possible diseases out there. You should go early and go often to ensure that you keep yourself healthy and do not put any of your potential sexual partners at risk. Everyone should do their part to keep others safe from sexually transmitted infections and other diseases.

The Risks of STDs

Most people do not understand the risks that come along with having unprotected sex with multiple partners. You really have to be concerned about this, and when you visit sexual health clinics they will usually instill in you the information that you need to know in order to protect yourself. The most important thing that you can do is practice safe sex. If you always practice safe sex, you can usually reduce the risks of any sort of infections that may be out there. Using condoms is probably the best option next to abstinence. Most of these sexual health clinics will give you free condoms if you ask for them because they want to promote healthy sexuality.

How Often Should You Go?

The next question that you may ask yourself is how often you need to go to this clinic and be tested. It is generally recommended that you go in at least every year, if not twice a year, and get tested for the major sexually transmitted diseases. It is usually quick process that requires a quick exam and some lab work, and you will usually have the results back in as little as a week. Most of the time, they can even do an HIV test that has rapid results and will be able to give you the results in less than ten minutes. You can definitely make time out of your day once or twice a year to go in and be tested.

Confidentiality is Important

Everyone that works at these sexual health clinics realizes that confidentiality is very important to everyone. When you visit this clinic, you can rest assured that no one will ever know that you visited or the results of your tests when you visit. You have to have your photo identification when you go back to get your results and that means that your results will not end up in the wrong hands. If you have been afraid to visit a sexual health clinic because you didn’t want anyone to know, then you can finally just take the leap and go and ensure your health in confidence knowing that it is not something that is shared with anyone.
