All About Retail Store Based Clinics

A common health care clinic that you will see more and more of these days is a retail based clinic. These are the small clinics that you will see inside your local shopping center. These clinics are very similar to walk in clinics, but they have added conveniences. If your area has a retail based clinic, then you may want to learn more about it in the event you ever need to seek medical attention there. You probably don’t realize this but these clinics have been around for several years. They are just now becoming more prominent in different areas, and you may have recently seen one open in your area inside of a local

Walmart or other retail establishment

A common concern people have about these clinics is whether or not they are able to get quality health care from these clinics. You should know that you are seen by the same types of doctors that you would see at any other walk in clinic. They have the same qualifications as your doctor, and are able to diagnose and treat many common illnesses. That being said, yes, you can definitely get quality health care from a retail based clinic. You just need to make sure that you understand that there may be a significant amount of wait time and there are some things that they will be unable to treat.

Common Myths About Retail Based Clinics

Many people think that because a clinic is located inside the shopping center that it is run by employees of the shopping center, but that is simply not the case. Anytime you find a retail based clinic that provides health care, it is because a physician or other health care company has leased or purchased the space inside the retail center to use as a medical practice. They do this so that there is a convenient way to get the general medical attention that you may need. There are many different advantages that come with being seen at this type of clinic as well.

The Main Advantages of These Clinics

One of the biggest advantages is the fact that you can get everything that you need in one stop. When you are not feeling well, you will want to do as little running around as possible. By visiting a retail based clinic, you will find that you are able to get your prescriptions filled there at the same time that you see the doctor. You will also be able to get any other necessities that you need while you are there. Another advantage is that most of the clinics will file your visit on your insurance for you. This saves you a lot of time as well. You simply let them make a copy of your ID and your insurance card and they will be able to help you get everything squared away. You will usually just have to pay your doctor visit co-pay up front.
